Founding Partners Wanted: A Depot Operations Platform for Scrap Recycling Yards

Most scrap yards run on paper weigh tickets, photos of scale readings sent over chat, and a spreadsheet someone reconciles at the end of the week. It works until a price gets misquoted at the gate, a lot sits in the yard for a month unnoticed, or the accountant spends two days at month-end matching invoices to what actually crossed the scale.

simpliRecycle tracks material from the scale to the invoice in one system: "from the scale to the invoice, one system tracks every kilo." We are now opening a founding-partner program for the first yards and traders who want to run on it.

This post covers what you get, what is not listed, and how to join.

Who this is for

  • Scrap recycling depots and yards in Thailand and Southeast Asia that buy graded material by weight many times a day.
  • Material traders who buy from factories and sell on to smelters or recyclers, and need stock and invoices to agree.
  • Owners and managers who want one daily view of revenue, cost, payables, receivables and aging stock, instead of waiting for the weekly spreadsheet.

What is live today

flowchart TD
    A["Supplier truck arrives"] --> B["Weigh-in and ABC grading"]
    B --> C["Price per kg snapshotted at intake"]
    C --> D["Graded lots in inventory"]
    D --> E["Sales order confirmed - stock allocated oldest first"]
    E --> F["VAT invoice with payment tracking"]
    F --> G["Daily dashboard and audit log"]
  • Intake. Mobile-first onsite buying for the weigher, with A, B and C grading and the price per kg locked at the moment of intake, so a later price change cannot silently rewrite what a supplier is owed. Lot detail shows the payout breakdown, and session summaries export as PDF.
  • Live QR mirror. The supplier’s officer can follow the weigh-in on their own phone without logging in, rather than taking the yard’s word for the weight and grade.
  • Inventory. A read-only view over graded lots, with no separate ledger to drift out of sync. Aging-stock alerts flag lots sitting 22 days or more.
  • Sales. Orders go from draft to confirmed to invoiced. Confirmation allocates stock first in, first out, and flags lines that cannot be filled in full.
  • Billing. VAT invoices with payment tracking: paid, partial or unpaid.
  • Catalog. Material varieties, grades and price tables.
  • Reporting and control. A daily dashboard, CSV financial reports and a full audit log. Four roles (weigher, cashier, manager, admin) with checks on every view.
  • Admin tools. Manage suppliers, buyers and pricing, set depot details such as company info, VAT rate and invoice numbering, and delete a mis-recorded session before it is confirmed.

Under the hood it is Django 5 and PostgreSQL, with htmx, Alpine.js and Bootstrap 5, WeasyPrint for PDFs, and Docker Compose for deployment. It is deliberately plain technology that a small team can keep running.

What is not listed, so you can plan around it

  • Direct integration with weighbridge scales, label printers, accounting software or LINE is not listed as a feature. Exports today are CSV and PDF. If you need a specific integration, tell us and we scope it as separate work.
  • Government e-invoicing submission is not listed. The platform produces VAT invoices. Whether you need anything beyond that for your tax filing is a question for your accountant, and we can scope what is needed.
  • There is no price list. simpliRecycle is not sold as an off-the-shelf package. We tune it to your yard’s materials, supplier volume and invoicing requirements, and quote per operation.
  • The page describes Docker Compose deployment, not a hosted subscription. Where it runs and who runs it is agreed in the proposal.
  • There is no live demo. The screenshots come from a running instance seeded with demonstration data, and we can talk you through it on a call.
  • Roadmap items are marked as roadmap in your proposal. We do not sell features that do not exist as if they do.

What founding partners get

  • A scoped proposal within 48 hours of describing your workflow, volume and timeline.
  • Priority onboarding for your first yard.
  • Configuration to your yard: your materials, grades, price tables, depot settings and invoice numbering.
  • A direct line to the engineers who built it, in Bangkok time, by LINE, WhatsApp, phone or email.
  • A say in the roadmap. What we build next is shaped by the first yards who run it.

Commercial terms for founding partners are agreed with you in the proposal. We do not publish a fixed founding discount.

How to join

  1. See the screens on the simpliRecycle page.
  2. Tell us three things: your materials and grades, roughly how many weigh-ins a day, and when you would like to start.
  3. Get a scoped proposal in 48 hours, then decide.

FAQ

Can suppliers see their own weigh-in?
Yes. A live QR mirror lets the supplier’s officer follow the weigh-in without logging in.

What stops a price change from affecting an old purchase?
The price per kg is snapshotted at intake, so the price agreed at the scale is the price recorded.

How does stock leave the yard in the system?
Confirming a sales order allocates stock first in, first out, and flags lines that cannot be fully filled.

Does it connect to our scale or accounting software?
That is not listed as a feature. Exports are CSV and PDF today, and we scope integrations separately.

Who can do what?
There are four roles: weigher, cashier, manager and admin, with role checks on every view.

Is there a fixed founding-partner discount?
We do not publish one. Terms are scoped per partner in the proposal.
